Performance Notes
This performance was billed as a "Liz Story: Celebrating 40 Years of Music" and included the following description:
Liz Story makes her Kennedy Center debut to celebrate more than four decades of music. She released her first album, Solid Colors, in 1983 after being signed by Will Ackerman to the legendary Windham Hill record label. Between 1983 and 2005, Liz released ten full-length studio albums of original solo piano compositions, jazz standards, and holiday music. For the Kennedy Center concert, Liz will perform her seminal album Solid Colors in its entirety, as well as many of her other beloved original compositions.
This performance continues a remarkable renaissance for Liz, both personally and professionally. She resumed performing full-length concerts in 2022 after a long absence, and gave her 40th Anniversary Concert at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York City in November 2023. In 2023-2024, Sony Music Entertainment honored Liz’s career with the release of The Essential Liz Story, a thirty-song collection curated by the artist to represent her most important original compositions; Liz Story Songs of Christmas, which presents all of her holiday music in a single collection; and Liz Story Jazz Standards & Originals.
Omomuki Foundation founder Geoffrey Hoefer introduced Liz from the stage.
